Recreation Coordinator


Full time Term Position – 1 Year

Summary of position: The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of events, programs, services and activities that are part of Recreation. The Recreation Coordinator will work with partners to ensure that the recreation, sport, leisure and cultural needs and interest of Peguis First Nation community members are met. Work duties fall under: administration, planning, program and special event coordination, communication, networking and community recreation development.

Roles & Responsibilities of Coordinator:
– Daily operation of the recreation office (reports, filing, supplies, computer maintenance, etc.)
– Carry out plans, events, programs and activities within the Recreation department
– Accountable with all funds through monthly reporting
– Shop for snack, supplies and equipment as needed; Inventory of all purchased equipment
– Create monthly calendars with scheduled events and activities according to community’s interests/needs
– Maintain a positive relationship with community – serving as a positive role model
– Maintain ongoing communication with public and partners (phone/email/fax)
– Solicit donations and conduct fundraising opportunities as required
– Budgeting for programs and events (ex. Registration fee, supplies, promotion, facility rental, etc)
– Program/event promotion

– Reliable and committed to community recreation
– Degree or diploma (or other related disciplines combined with experience) from a recognized university or college in Recreation Administration/ Management
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Recreation Administration, customer service and public relations
– Criminal and Child Abuse registry check (updated every 6 months)
– Current First Aid/CPR
– Must have valid class 5 license
– Available to work shift work, evenings, weekends and holidays: travel will be required
– Computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
– Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Starting Wage : $13 per hour
